Our Contract Cutting Franchise is Available in Christchurch, NZ

What Is a Cutshop Franchise?

Our Cutshop franchisees provide DIY people, cabinet makers, and commercial shop fitters with precision cutting, edging and drilling services to individual specifications.  We take pride in an exceptional customer service to cover all order sizes.  No job is too small.  Our market is virtually untapped and growing rapidly alongside the booming DIY home renovation trend.

Cutshop has been servicing Mt Wellington since 2009, and has opened the North Shore franchise in November 2015. Next in line, the Hamilton franchise has a grand opening in the middle of 2016.

The Cutshop model proves that new Cutshop franchisees can achieve break-even in Year-One and a significant return on investment in Year-Three.

Cutshop is New Zealand’s first and only specialist “cut-to-size” contract service provider able to work with a wide variety of materials, including:

  • Wood composites
  • Solid timber
  • Plywood
  • Veneers
  • Acrylics
  • Aluminium
  • Polystyrene (expanded foam)

Each Cutshop also provides edging services using the latest in band edging technology with the Holzher Lumina machine, currently the only ones in Australasia, capable of providing invisible taping joints with the latest available laser edge technology at an unbeatable speed and cost efficiency. This technology allows Cutshop to provide the highest quality service available in New Zealand. Whether its traditional glue joins, waterproof or invisible laser joins, Cutshop can provide its customers the job finish it wants.

Cutshop started 7 years ago (2009) as a result of one of the current owner's frustrations with trying to get a combination of kitchen, vanity and wardrobe cut for his newly developed property. This job was either too small for a cabinetmaker or too big for a commercial hardware store.

Cutshop was born out of this need to provide a service that cut, edge, drills and delivers sheet material for the DIYer. It was soon discovered that there was a demand for this service from the trade, commercial shop fitting, kitchen manufacturers and many other companies.

Whether it is to help control production times or to take advantage of Cutshop’s flat pack systems or Cutshop’s ability to provide a superior product than can often be produced in house, Cutshop has the cutting solution.

Cutshop uses advanced CNC router technology which are highly flexible, making them ideal for a variety of manufacturing applications supplied by Thermwood. Thermwood has been building CNC routers longer than anyone else with thousands of CNC routers in operation in over 33 countries, including New Zealand. Software is a key part of the CNC system and Cutshop uses eCabinet’s, a specialised Cad-Cam software specifically developed for the Thermwood CNC router. The Thermwood MTR21 used by Cutshop allows the cutting of large material panels, 3.6m x 2.1m and is the largest available for contract services in New Zealand. eCabinet software is available for both professional and custom cabinet makers. The software libraries come available with pre-programmed cabinets, vanities, closet systems, traditional and contemporary furniture that can all be used as-is or modified to suit a customer. Cutshop makes eCabinet software available to customers who wish to program cabinets themselves enabling an integrated servicing capability. Any programmed work is translated into a software language (C-code) which is then executed on the CNC machine providing quality and precise cuts.
