FIND A JOB?

A lot of people are asking themselves the very serious question “should I find a job?” or “should I have my own business?”

In today’s very strong Australian economy this has become a harder and harder question to answer. With extremely low levels of unemployment, it has never been a better time to have a job. With such a shortage of people in the market place, employers are paying more, giving better conditions and bending over backwards to accommodate the personal needs of the workforce.

Retention is any businesses main focus. Employers are allowing more flexible hours, assisting with child care and even taking an active interest in the health of their employees. What could be better???? Why not have a job???

The biggest difference between working for a company and self employment is self determination.

You have more choices and have more control over your fate. As much as having a medium to high paying job is good, do you really get paid for what you put in. No matter how hard you work, how many hours you put in or how little your peers work, you still get the same money in your account every week.

Imagine having to work les and less to achieve the same results financially. These are the opportunities on offer with your own business.

But business ownership is not for everyone. A lot of people are not motivated to work hard. Few people can wake up in the morning with the right attitude to create more business for themselves. There are also people who can’t take pressure and need the security of a consistent income.

But, for the entrepreneurs out there, a job is the last thing you want. As you create a business and it grows, there is no better feeling than knowing what you have created.

The feeling of knowing that all that work has directly benefited you and not some middle managers career somewhere one rung up the corporate ladder.

I have personally been in both places. I used to work really long hours and have very few days off. I got the pat on the back, I got the acclaim and the congratulations, “But My Boss Got the Porsche!”

When I started with my own business, it was hard. I made lots of sacrifices. By starting my business with next to no money it took a while to see a return. I also missed out on the property boom. If I had kept my job I could have easily purchased my own home and made lots of money during the boom……but I missed out big time. It was 3 years until I started to have real long term financial security. Now 5 years on I have bought my first home, have a nice car and enjoy my life. I have also put myself in a position that I don’t need to be at work in order to make money. In fact, I now have staff that run my office, so that when I have a day off, take a holiday or have to do anything, I still make money and my business grows.

I could not imagine a different lifestyle.

So to get a job or not to get a job, that is the question?

This is a very personal question and it will totally depend on your drive motivations and your ability to get through hard times or not.
