New fast food franchise aims to take over the world, one burger at a time

Media Release

GLOBETROTTERS and burger fanatics will think all of their Christmases have come at once when new healthy fast food franchise Global Burger opens in Townsville next month.

Global Burgers has already established stores in Darlinghurst and on the Gold Coast but will open its latest franchise at Shop 2/58 The Strand, Townsville, in May.

Managing Director and Franchisor of Global Burgers Queensland, Mr Gary Blyton, said the franchise’s aim was to transform their healthy, gourmet recipes into a worldly range of burgers that would please even the toughest burger critic.

“Unlike other burger chains, at Global Burgers our burgers are made fresh to order,” Mr Blyton said.

“Our ingredients are mostly organic and served on generous 13cm buns, and every burger we sell can also be ordered as a salad so customers can skip the carbs if they want to.

“Our thick-cut potato chips are cooked in 100% cholesterol free, vegetarian-friendly Cotton Seed Oil and our gelato is sourced from boutique manufacturers to ensure we reach our goal to have the healthiest dining experience on the globe.”

Established in 2002 by renowned Sydney chefs Mark Bayliss and Clayton Rose, the dynamic burger bar’s catchphrase, “Eat the World”, rings true through its menu of nine internationally-inspired burgers including Bangkok (an exotic blend of Thai chilli chicken, pickled carrot, cucumber, coriander and sweet chilli sauce), New York (ground topside beef with tomato relish, smoked cheddar, lettuce, tomato and onion rings) and, for vegetarians, Morocco (chickpea and onion fritter with BBQ eggplant, rocket, tomato and spiced mayonnaise).

Another unique aspect of Global Burgers in Queensland is that the franchises are fully licensed, selling a range of local and imported beers and wines.

“It’s more of an adult burger bar concept where you can have a drink and linger, without having to rush in and out.”

A self-confessed burger addict, Mr Blyton said the Global Burgers concept was developed to offer consumers a great-tasting, healthy alternative to traditional fast food.

“In the wake of a series of television programs and films condemning the fast food industry for contributing to Australia’s obesity epidemic, Australian consumers have turned to Global Burgers as a convenient, healthy alternative to traditional fast food which is notoriously high in sugar, salt and saturated fat.”

The franchise may be global by name but it is local by nature as one of Global Burgers philosophies is to source their ingredients daily from a range of local producers.

“In addition to offering the healthiest burgers on the planet we believe in supporting the people who support us so we enlist the help of local boutique producers.

“Our special sauces, marinades and relishes are made according to proprietary recipes by manufacturers who work exclusively for Global Burgers.

“These stringent manufacturing measures ensure that Global Burgers customers receive the highest quality, freshest and healthiest burgers every single visit.”
