In 1992 the first Healthy Habits store was established in the Knox City Shopping Centre in Melbourne by Katherine Sampson.

Over the next few years Katherine started to see that although people wanted fast food, they were also looking for healthier fast food options. Her store was becoming busier and after putting systems and procedures in place to make the outlet more efficient, Katherine opened a second store at Southgate in 1999, a third store at The Glen in 2000 and in 2001 a fourth caféstyle store at Knox City.

Since 2005, Healthy Habits has grown from 4 stores in Victoria to 34 stores across Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT. Healthy Habits is now one of Australia’s most awarded franchise systems and the number one sandwich bar brand in the market.

Having established a solid foundation and a strong brand, Healthy Habits was looking for the right partner to take the business to the next level. An exciting new phase began in March 2009 with the Dymocks Group of Companies purchasing an 80 per cent share in Healthy Habits.

With more than 130 years in the retail business, and 25 of those as a franchisor, Dymocks has the knowledge and experience to capitalise on the opportunities ahead for Healthy Habits; each year more than 450 million sandwiches are sold in Australia with no major brand domination.

Healthy Habits’ fresh, healthy, bold and colourful stores specialise in custom made sandwiches – made just the way you like them. Also on offer are wraps, baguettes, focaccias, healthy salads, yoghurts, smoothies, fruit juices and fruit salad.

There are 3 successful store models offering great flexibility and opportunities: food court, express kiosk/juice bar and café-lounge-bar.

The food court model is suitable for CBDs, major shopping centres and airports. Express kiosks have been designed for busy traffic hubs and airports that stock ready to go salads, ready-made sandwich options, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. The new café-lounge-bar model has an extensive menu offering freshly cooked breakfast, lunch and counter meal options while maintaining the core sandwich bar offering of the Healthy Habits menu.
